Stouffer mac and cheese recipe

It is because of this dish I have always loved a good baked macaroni and cheese recipe. This recipe for macaroni and cheese is a basic recipe that starts with a cheese sauce that has two types of cheese in it for rich cheese flavor. I think by using two types of cheese you get a better cheese flavor, as it has more depth. My recipe for the Longhorn Steakhouse Macaroni and Cheese , features four different types of cheese which are wonderful for a once in a while treat. This recipe is simple, and perfect for every day.

While we normally use elbow pasta for this recipe, you could use other shapes of pasta if you desire. Sometimes I like to use shells, wheel shaped pasta, or another type of pasta. While the original recipe always uses the elbows you can feel free to substitute what you have around the kitchen.

Make sure all cheese melts completely before adding the next portion of cheese. Add dry mustard powder and paprika and stir well. Drain pasta. Stir pasta into cheese sauce. Place pasta into a large 2 quart baking dish. Bake for approximately 20 minutes. If desired turn oven to broil, and allow the casserole to brown a moment or two before serving.

TY for the recipe, it sounds really good. Just wanna throw that out there for the new cooks who go strictly by the recipe. Lori, I would normally agree with you. If you salt the pasta water properly I think it comes out well seasoned. I thought in developing the recipe the cheese that I used was a bit naturally salty and offered its own salt. The butter in the recipe was also salted.

I finally made this recipe as shown, except due to all the comments I added a quarter inch more macaroni then called for.

I also put a tablespoon of Parmesan cheese in it because I could never leave any recipe alone. It is soooo tasty. I dont care for baked mac becuz it is dry and becomes a brick when cooled and the cheese clumps when reheated. This will be my go to mac recipe!! It was excellent. Had to substitute Ragu Double cheese sauce in the jar. Forgot to pick that up the store. I know it will be a hit. I LOVE this recipe! I have been seeking out my perfect Mac and cheese recipe for years.

They are all either too dry, or not cheesy enough, or too salty etc etc. This one was fantastic! The family loved it! I used a habanero cheddar because it is what I had on hand and it gave it a nice bit of bite. Baked it with a few bread crumbs on top to give it a bit of crunch and it was awesome!
